Games tonight

Will have predictions on Saturday’s games in tomorrow’s blog.

Tonight (Thursday). Rankings are USA Today Coach’s Poll

Southern Miss @ South Carolina: 6:30, ESPN-South Carolina has been hit hard in the offseason by off field problems, but should have enough to overcome an always dangerous Southern Miss squad. Steve Spurrier trying to step up to the upper level of the East. Has more talent this year, and this would start things off right. We’ll see if Stephen Garcia is ready to take it to the next level. South Carolina 21, Southern Miss 13.

Minnesota @ Middle Tn. State: 6:30 ESPNU-Middle Tn was 10-2 last year. This is a tough game for Golden Gophers. Think they’ll pull it out though. Minn 24, Midd Tn 21.

Marshall@ No.2 Ohio State: 6:30, BIg Ten Network. Game may be on ESPN game plan. Should be a track meet for Buckeyes. OSU 42, Marshall 7.

No.15 Pitt @ No.24 Utah:7:30, Versus. Pitt a physical, fast team with one of the best rbs in the country in Dion Lewis. Don’t know a lot about Utah except they’re ranked 24th, beat Alabama handily two years ago in the Sugar Bowl, and are very well coached led by head coach Kyle Whittingham. I’m going to pick Utah in the upset, 31-28.

USC @Hawaii: 10 pm ESPN-USC still has talent. They’re going to be depleted in the next couple of years, but Matt Barkley and company get it done tonight and may have a pretty decent season. SC 35-24.

(Kyle Whittingham, photo above, will try to lead Utah to an upset of Pitt.)
